We will be performing at Faith Journey Church for 'Sounds of Christmas' on December 17th at 3 p.m. The community event is free and open to the public.
A Shareharp Ensemble is made up of 5 or 6 who will be playing a prelude and again later in the program. For this we will plan and perform several Christmas Carol medleys. What a privilege to celebrate our Savior's birth with our harps. We encourage you to come and bring a friend!
What is a harp circle?
A harp circle is similar to a quilting bee. Harpists who want the company of other harpists and enjoy playing music, decide on a time and a place to get together to do just that - play together. That is how we started and that is how we have lasted. We knew at once we enjoyed it and through the last few years we have grown in numbers from 4 to a potential of 10 and counting?
We were not formed for the purpose of performing for others but have on occasion put a program together and performed in our St. Cloud area. The main idea is fellowship. One of the key reasons a group will last is consistent meetings. Each one of us has a busy life but we do our best to take the time to load up our harps, leave our regular routine of the day and meet to play folk songs, hymns, carols, light classic tunes, special arrangements, or a original song written by one of the group members. It is great fun and it can be a chance for us to try out a solo we are working on for a church service, a wedding or a gig. In recent years we have met approximately every other month on a Sunday afternoon. When multiple harps play together it is a sound like no other! Anyone who owns a harp and wants to join in is welcome.
Our next gathering of our Shareharp Circle is at Quiet Oaks Hospice House on December 10th. We will sit in one of their beautiful meeting rooms and just play through our Christmas Books.
